About Ade

Ade has had an interest in natural history since he was a kid. He took up photography as a hobby a few years back, when a friend introduced him to the joys of hunting for orchids. The Anglesea heathlands in Victoria, near Ade's home town of Geelong, provided a rich orchid flora for practice. This interest expanded to other native plants. Ade is a member of the Geelong branch of The Australian Plants Society.

A trip to Brazil and a brief stop-over in South Africa saw him catch the 'safari bug'. He, and wife Penny, make a trip every second year to lodges in the Klaserie and Timbavati PNRs, part of the Greater Kruger Park.

Ade finds photographing birds the biggest challenge, but the most rewarding. The frustration of trying to capture a subject that is almost never still, is far out-weighed by the enjoyment of time spent in the bush, at the beach or on the wetlands.

When he's not out with his camera, Ade drives Safari Buses at Werribee Open Range Zoo.
